[He's still getting used to the texting side of all of this. Most of the time he forgets he even has a device like this, but it just so happened to be sitting on a table, so he heard it vibrate.]
yeah i've got something like that why do you want it?
welp as you have more than likely noticed shit here sucks donkey feet
i mean, don't get me wrong, still think traveling the multiverse is hella cool, but all of this threatening of eternal suffering ain't my jam. so i need give the ole noggin a good cleaning of all this bullshit

i dunno dude ive seen a goat with a man face there's gotta be a donkey with feet out there somewhere
[ Annnd that's going to take up a good chunk of his thoughts for a while now. Where is this man footed donkey? Surely it exists. ]
pretty sure something weird is always gonna happen but im not gonna complain about company (~‾⌣‾)~ ok so what's your poison of the snack variety not actual poison
unless you're into that i guess no judgement this is a no shame zone
[Ok…there’s probably very little he needs to worry about. Right? Mercy had said this man was a follower of the Wildmother and they were usually nice people, so…
He decides to forgo the trial inherent in texting and simply stick with voice, his voice is low, quiet, and slightly accented, but there’s a small waver of nervousness despite his best efforts.]
Hello. I hope I’m not a bother, but I was informed you knew of the Wildmother…which might mean we’re of the same world. Possibly. I-
[What does one usually say after that?]
I’m from northern Tal’dorei, if that means anything to you.
Yeah, I'm from a place called the Blooming Grove. Uh... northern part of the Empire.
[He doesn't know if that'd make sense to someone from Tal'Dorei. Hell, Caduceus hadn't ever really thought about where he lived on a map until he met the Nein.]
[He’d poured over what maps he’d come across when he had his sight, but he couldn’t remember seeing that name. Then again, who often noticed the Grey Valley either?]
I am unfamiliar with it, but I am afraid That’s true of most of your land.
My name is Garner Cinderbrooke. Miss Mercy mentioned your name. I think she was excited I reach out to you.
Who's? Oh, the Wildmother. [They were just talking about Mercy, too, so that... got a little mixed up in his head. Melora. They're talking about her now.]
My family's been serving her for a long time in the Blooming Grove. Part of her champion was buried there, a gift to the Wildmother and the Archeart. The Clays have been there ever since, tending the dead. But yeah, there's a temple there.
[‘Who’s?’ Who else’s? Maybe there’s some social cue he’s missing that’s meant to be given. If not for whatever race the man was, then maybe his culture. Garner certainly wouldn’t know.
They’ll get there. Probably. Hopefully.]
The Wildmother and the Archeart? I wasn’t aware they had business together.
[He had another question, but maybe one at a time would be better?]
It's kind of a long story. The short version is... after a great war, three of the Raven Mother's champions asked what to do with the body of a fallen hero. They were already dead, so what happened to the body didn't much concern her. She told them to ask the Wildmother, and the Wildmother told one of the champions to take the head of the hero to a spring deep in the Savalierwood, where a beautiful grove would grow as a gift to the Archeart. Another champion took another part of the hero and created a garden menagerie as a gift from the Wildmother to the Changebringer and the last champion took another part to the Kravaard, where they created a kiln as a gift to the Allhammer.
[Look that is the short version, okay? He could take a lot more time telling that story.]
Anyway, all three families - Dust, Stone, and Clay - have been looking after the Cinderrest Sanctum, the Menagerie, and the Blooming Grove ever since. We serve the Wildmother, as tasked by the Matron, and we live in places that were gifts to other gods.
[It’s information and it’s new and that makes it interesting. He doesn’t even think to doubt it.]
Wow…I’ve never heard any of that before. I didn’t even know they gave each other gifts or interacted like that. I knew they fought together, but they sound almost like friends. It’s fascinating.
You’re a cleric, then? To the Wildmother. Are all of the Clays clerics?
[That...is a terrifying but understandable thought. He would need to work that one over more in his mind.
He's silent a moment, but he's earnest when he responds.]
Then I am happy to have reached out to you. Most of the clerics I have known have an insight I can only dream of. I suspect we will need plenty of insight here.
I miss things all the time. [He smiles to himself for his own joke, but...without being seen he's sure it won't land. It's not like anyone can hear he's blind.
Oh well.]
I was told you reside at the flophouse. I am afraid my options to travel there are limited, but perhaps I can come by to visit while you are here at ADI? I will likely end up requiring your services at some point.
[He has no doubt he'll need his abilities at some point and while he can tend his own wounds, having a cleric's eye on such things will be better.]
@jermiacumberbatch

Really? Yeah, that's the next continent over right?
[He's pretty sure this isn't a voice he knows.]

Yes, I believe so. You’re from Wildemount?
[His only experience with Wildemount was Raleigh and this man-Caduceus didn’t sound the same.]

Sister Mercy is a good friend. They follow the Wildmother in Tal'Dorei?
[Hey he doesn't know, he's never been there. Well, he was there very briefly, sort of, but he never left Allura's tower.]
no subject
Yes, there was supposedly a statue in the park in Emon, according to his friends.]
From what I know of the places I’ve been, yes. I can’t say I know very much of her tenets, but I’ve heard only positivity.
Do you work in one of her temples?

[They have wars, they love, they give gifts, they get petty. Pretty relatable, actually.]
And no, we're not all clerics. I am, though.
no subject
